3D Reality Capture

“With the complex nature of site upgrades and retrofits, LiDAR is the first crucial step in delivering the most accurate information to both clients and project engineers.”

HOW IT WORKS:

Scan_Workflow.gif
  • SCAN: A field engineer uses the Leica BLK360 to capture LiDAR data and 360° images. 10,000sqft can be captured in as little as two hours and will contain millions of data points.

  • REGISTER: Completed using Autodesk ReCap Pro, this is the process of stitching together each scan to compile one complete point cloud. The point cloud can be delivered to the client in a variety of formats including a .dwg. In addition to the point cloud, clients will be able to view 360° images from each scan location using a web-based version of ReCap. Measurements can be taken from both the point cloud as well as the 360° images.

  • MODEL: Designers load the point cloud into EdgeWise to extract and model 3D geometries. All structural steel, walls, concrete, ductwork, pipes, and equipment can be modeled. With EdgeWise, pipes can be automatically extracted to substantially reduce modeling time and increase model accuracy.

  • INTEGRATE: Clients can import a point cloud or extracted model into their working model to see how existing field conditions will interact with new design elements.
